چکیده

Evaluation of preoperative elevation of serum c-reactive protein as an indicator for prognosis of colorectal cancer
Abstract Background : Cancer has not been elucidated in colerectal site. C-reactive protein (CRP) is a product synthesized in hepatocytes and has been reported to be up-regulated by such proinflammatory cytokines as interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor (TNF). The significance of a preoperative serum elevation was evaluated using CRP as a predictive i...
متن کاملNUCL EAR DNA CONTENT AND DNA PLOIDY ANALYSIS IN BREAST CANCER
To investigate the patterns of DNA ploidy and proliferating activity in breast cancer and relate them to other prognostic factors, paraffin blocks of 53 cases of breast carcinoma were studied. Cancer cells obtained by mechanical tissue disaggregation were examined for DNA content, ploidy and S-phase fraction. DNA assay was done using a CAS interactive image analyzing system. All of the cas...
متن کاملAnalysis of TP53 Codon 72 Polymorphism in Mucinous and Non-Mucinous Colorectal Adenocarcinoma in Isfahan, Iran
Background: The tumor suppressor gene TP53 (alias p53) located on chromosome 17 is involved in various cancers. Case-control studies have shown that p53 codon 72 polymorphism modulates the prognosis and susceptibility to various malignancies. We undertook the present study to explore a possible association between mucinous and non-mucinous adenocarcinomas with different genotypes or alleles at ...
متن کاملPrognostic significance of DNA ploidy pattern and nucleolar organizer regions (AgNOR) in colorectal carcinoma.
AIM To investigate the prognostic significance of DNA ploidy and silver stained nucleolar organizer regions (AgNOR), as well as their relation to the histological grade and Dukes' stages of colorectal carcinomas, and the relation of tumor cells proportion in the S-phase and Dukes' stage, histologic grade, DNA ploidy, or AgNOR count. METHODS DNA flow cytometric analysis and AgNOR were performe...
متن کاملDNA ploidy and morphology of colon tumors in the adenoma-carcinoma sequence.
INTRODUCTION Chromosomal changes are widespread in the vast majority of colon carcinomas and aneuploidy is an established prognostic factor. However, this knowledge so far has no influence on tumor classification. We reported a morphology-based classification scheme, the core classification, that correlates with DNA ploidy. In particular, tripolar mitoses were identified as surrogate markers of...
